Core Badges
There are a number of core badges, obtained upon joining the Colony which identify the Scout Group and region.
Chief Scouts Bronze Award
Starting in Autumn 2017 we have updated our programme to allow all Beavers who attend for 2 years to attain their Chief Scouts Bronze Award. This is achieved by completing all 6 Challenge Awards and any 4 Activity badges / Staged Activity Badges. During their time in Beavers we will complete the following badges
Challenge Awards
Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Colony or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world. The 6 Challenge Awards are as follows:
My Skills Challenge Award
My Adventure Challenge Award
My Outdoors Challenge Award
My World Challenge Award
Teamwork Challenge Award
Personal Challenge Award

Activity Badges
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Beaver Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests. Over their 2 years at Beavers children will complete the following Activity Badges
Safety Activity Badge
Space Activity Badge
Experiment Activity Badge
Creative Activity Badge
Explore Activity Badge
There are many more Activity Badges that Beavers are welcome to complete in their own time. If your child would like to do so please discuss the particular badge / badges your child would like to complete with a Beavers leader and we will assist in making a plan of what the Beaver will do to meet the badge requirements. We have some plans available to download and complete at home already in the links below. Just complete and return, either hard copy at a Group meeting or by email to mcgowansa1980@gmail.com, and the Beaver will receive the badge.
UPDATE - While Beaver Meetings are cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic Home Challenge Badges will be posted to Beavers once complete if available from the Scout Shop online, or handed out when meetings resumes. Please ensure you follow all relevant government rules, restrictions ad recommendations while doing badgework. Thank you for your patience and have fun completing the badges, Scott.
