Explorers 15th & 121st DoFE Group Terms and Conditions (T&Cs)

Listed below are the Terms and Conditions for participation in the Eastwood Explorers Duke of Edinburgh group. Failure to comply with any of the T&Cs set out below will result in instant removal from the DoFE group.

Failure to comply with T&Cs applicable for Expeditions will result in an instant removal from the Expedition, with travel costs to pick up the participant covered at their own expense.

Terms and Conditions

• Leaders reserve the right to remove a participant from the DoFE Group/Expedition subject to noncompliance with any of the T&C set out below.
• Participants agree to the following terms & conditions related to the WhatsAppGroup:
• Participants give permission to be added to the WhatsApp group for their section.
• Parents also give their permission for their young person to be added to the WhatsApp group for their section.
• It is the responsibility of the participant to check the chat for any updates sent out by the DoFE leadership team. Any failure to read any vital updates RE expeditions, deadlines etc remains the sole responsibility of the participant. It is their DoFE award, no one elses.
• It is the responsibility of the participant and their parent/guardian to check the 15^th Eaglesham Scout website (www.15thglasgowscouts.org.uk/page-dofe.html) for updates to expeditions/route card nights.
• The DoFE Leadership team are volunteers offering DoFE to 4 troops. Updates are made centrally to the website so it can be accessed by all participants across the whole Eastwood Explorers DoFE Group. Email updates will only be sent if the information is missing from the website.
• Any money paid is non-refundable, as payments are made in advance of expeditions.
• Paperwork and money is to be returned on dates set out by the leaders which can be found on the website.
• In order to complete any level of the award, the participant must be an active member of an Explorer unit.
• All participants must start at Bronze level to participate in the Silver and Gold.
• A participant can move DoFE system (i.e. from school) subject to fully completing their prior level. (I.e. Have to have received Bronze Award from previous DoFE system)
• Leaders have the right to archive participants after the following dates, if they have not completed the award:
• Bronze & Silver – 1^st June
• Gold – When participant turns 17
• It is the participants responsibility to attend the Route Card night on the date set out which can be found on the website for each section (Bronze, Silver & Gold)
• It is the participants responsibility to attend the expeditions set out for their section with appropriate equipment.
• All kit issued by the Eastwood Explorers DoFE Group will be returned in a good and clean condition
• Any issued kit which gets lost/damaged unnecessarily/not returned will be replaced at the participant/parents expense.
• All personal kit listed in the DoFE Kit List must be packed by the participant and is their own responsibility.
• Parents are responsible for getting their child to and from each planned event listed on the website for their participants section. This includes the drop off points for any expeditions where a minibus has been organised by the DoFE Leaders.
• Leaders reserve the right to commence travel/start an expedition if a participant(s) is late to the time set by the leaders.
• Participants will not partake in any of the following whilst on expedition.
• Use of alcohol
• Use of drugs
• Use of Cigarettes/E-Cigarettes (Vapes)
• Participants will treat each other, the DoFE Leadership team, landowners, members of the public and animals with respect and courtesy whilst attending DoFE nights and expeditions. Bullying or harassment of any form will not be tolerated.
• Participants will comply with the mobile phone policy and country code.
• Expeditions are run unaccompanied and the participants remain self sufficient throughout. They are supervised remotely and camp with a Scouts Nights Away Event Passport. All expeditions are run in accordance to Scout Association’s rules.
• Leaders will be notified of information changes such as addresses and contact details.
