Subscription policy
15th Glasgow Scout Group Subscriptions Policy
Introduction
The Executive Committee is responsible for ensuring that the finances of the group are secure. The majority of the group’s income comes from member subscriptions. This policy details how subscriptions should be collected.
Membership Subscriptions
Membership subscriptions must be paid by the Date stated in the email sent to all parents though OSM. This ensures that the youngster is recorded as a member of the Scout Association and that the association's insurance cover is valid. If subs are not received within 1 weeks the committee reserves the right to refuse admission of any youngster until the subs are paid. If they remain unpaid for a term, membership of the group automatically ceases.
Payment Procedures for Subscriptions
Subs are to be paid for two semesters:
Each semester (2022-2023)
• All sections £75.00
Subs are reviewed annually by the Group’s Executive Committee. Any change will be given in writing to parents/carers at least 4 weeks before the revised subs are due.
The Group offers a direct bank transfer facility for subscription payments.
Concessions
The group may be able to offer financial assistance with subs and other scouting costs if a family is experiencing financial hardship. Please speak with the Section Leader or Group Scout Leader if this applies to you. The group will consider such circumstances on a case by case basis and discussions will always be in confidence.
Gift Aid
We are registered with HM Revenue and Customs to be able to claim back tax paid on subscriptions and donations. We will seek to claim Gift Aid wherever possible. If you are eligible, please complete the Gift Aid declaration form on OSM.
Fundraising
As much of our income from subs is consumed in fees to the Scout Association and costs of running the venue, the Group needs to supplement subs with other fundraising activities and encourages families to support these:
• Social events
• Sponsored fundraising challenges
• Channelling your online spending through any fundraising portals, when these are offered.
There are also charges to join in with some off-site events. The group seeks to offer a full programme of scouting activities at minimal costs to members’ families.
